What you’ll be doing as an Accountant:
- Assist in maintaining smooth operations within the Finance Department by reviewing payroll reports and conducting internal controls.
- Review supplier invoices, general ledger coding of expenses, and verify supplier payments with supporting documents.
- Verify expense reimbursements with supporting documents to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Prepare general ledger reconciliations and follow up on contract renewals.
- Prepare, post, and update standard and adjustment journal vouchers at month-end.
- Prepare bank reconciliation statements and analyze expenses and major budget variations.
- Review Night Auditors' logbooks and verify daily revenue and food & beverage reports.
- Conduct float counting of all house fund holders weekly and prepare monthly float count summaries.
- Prepare check runs for approval and reconcile supplier statements with hotel records monthly.
- Ensure accurate and complete billing, and handle all accounts payable queries.
- Supervise monthly payrolls, ensuring timely and accurate payment of salaries and benefits.
- Monitor time and attendance systems, ensuring proper accounting of payroll-related accruals.
- Prepare monthly payroll reconciliations and final settlement calculations for departing employees.
- Perform market surveys, select vendors, and follow up on delivery times and complaints.
- Contribute to improving policies and procedures related to accounts payable and payroll.
What we’re looking for:
- Formal qualifications at tertiary level to degree standard in Science, Administration or Commerce with a major in Accountancy.
- Proven experience within a hotel finance department at management or senior management level.
- Knowledge of local financial regulations and laws.
- Updated knowledge of IFRS Accounting Standards.
- Competency in ACCPAC, SAP, hotel PMS (HMS), Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SkyBayan, SAGE300 and related hospitality proprietary software packages.
Competent Oral and Written English and Arabic Communication Skills
- Strong organisational and work coordinating skills combined with an ability to handle multiple assignments and projects simultaneously.
